Magnetic MRO introduces additional NDT method capabilities

Magnetic MRO is proud to announce the expansion of its non-destructive testing (NDT) capabilities: our inspectors, from now on, have the approval to perform thermography inspections and phased array ultrasonic inspections.

These two NDT methods will add to the already existing capabilities on our approval list, which include dye penetrant, eddy current, magnetic particle and ultrasonic testing (phased array is an advanced method of ultrasonic testing).

From the service standpoint, these new methods will enable us to offer a higher service level and react quickly to any arising need during the aircraft maintenance visits as we do not have to rely on the assistance of the third-party service providers.

Introducing the new techniques required some investments and training, and equipment to provide both methods was purchased from high-quality suppliers of the NDT industry.

“We really see a great need for this capability expansion,” says Risto Mäeots, COO of Magnetic MRO. “There are new and advanced materials being introduced in the aviation industry, which requires scientists and manufacturers to develop modern technologies for the inspections, all in the name of keeping the aircraft safe and airworthy. Our initial base maintenance load for thermography and phased array inspections will come from the Airbus 320 family of aircraft, but these methods are also becoming more widely used on the Boeing family of aircraft.”
